DEVELOPING INNOVATIVE STRATEGIES TO SUPPORT VULNERABLE CHILDREN

ACHIEVING GROWTH

Achieving Positive Outcomes

At Carholme House a high priority is placed on achieving positive outcomes for children and young people in our care. We strive to make a difference to the lives of our children and young people and strive to support them in maximizing their potential.

At Carholme House we work closely with the child, family/significant others, and care team in identifying appropriate long-term goals for the child through the review and consultation process. These goals or targets are then incorporated into the young person’s individual placement plan and monitored closely via the young person’s individual care plans. Young people are encouraged to participate in the development and review of their individual care plans and are central to this process. The areas we monitor are             based on the quality care standards. Carholme House measures the effectiveness of the targets set within the

young person’s care plans on a monthly basis.

Care plan monitoring allows for the young person’s outcomes to be measured numerically and analyzed to establish how the young person’s outcomes are being met and whether the young person is on target for achieving their goals. This process allows us to identify strengths and highlight these to the young people, building on confidence and self-esteem and celebrating success through appropriate rewards and positive consequences. Areas identified as not being achieved are considered carefully and highlighted within multi

agency reviews and reports to identify how this can be achieved in the future, again keeping the young person central to this process.

ABOUT US

The overall aim of Carholme House is to build a therapeutic model of care designed to help tackle some of the profound difficulties many looked-after children face whilst still in their childhood. To provide a safe, caring, and nurturing environment where highly trained and dedicated staff are able to provide positive remodelling to enable and encourage “children” to be “children” and help realign the child with the wonders of childhood, free from trauma, abuse, and pressure. To support the child’s journey from childhood to youth to be a profound experience leading to the best possible outcomes.  To develop an eclectic and diverse staff team that has the skills, personalities, and drive to help children understand their uniqueness and value within our world.  To build resilience based on the understanding that the child will not be judged but instead guided towards positive choices. To transform negative childhood experiences, and imprint an optimistic worldview, and a pathway to positive adult outcomes.

This will be achieved by-in-large by recruiting and developing a first-class workforce, particularly front-line support workers who are at the core of both our business and our children’s lives. Carholme House will ensure adequate resources are made available to develop, particularly, front-line support workers because of the pivotal role they play in our children’s development.

To develop an in-house training program which will be envied and magpied by our competitors and will demonstrate the value we place in our front-line support workers.

To ensure that each member of staff is committed to the progress of the child understands each child, and understands their role in the child’s life story.

To build on existing talent, to drill effective safeguarding, PBS, and the understanding of therapeutic support. To ensure that the workforce is trained monthly, using facing training and workshops which are creative, risk-taking, dynamic and original.

To make training day, a fun day! where the skill, attuites and mindset of our workers will be showcased as well as sharpened.

To utilize training settings to incorporate and stimulate team-building themes, as the team learns and develops within a shared framework of values.

To drill the quality standards and how they work in practice and how these standards can impact the lives of the children we support.

To develop champions in all areas of our service delivery from fire safety, First Aid, PBS, Safeguarding, Missing and Medication.

To work with qualified therapists have the therapist’s workshop and train our staff team to ensure our children receive continuity of care whilst working through past trauma.

To build a culture where the child is at the centre of everything we do, placing their safety, development, Emotional, Social and psychological well-being at the core, where the people who work for us, do so because this is more than just a job.

Staff to always demonstrate that they care for the child and are concerned about their wellbeing, even if they disapprove of the child’s behaviour. We should remember that this unconditional acceptance might have often been lacking in a child’s previous care.

To be a listening company and shape our home/s as much as possible around the views, thoughts and feelings of the children we support, and the feedback given to us by our stakeholders

Carholme House aims to provide an environment where children and young people can feel valued as individuals with unique talents, strengths, and capabilities. We seek to provide care and support that is ambitious and stimulating to encourage each child or young person to develop, thrive and fulfil their potential. We place the needs of the young people at the Centre of all we do, promoting choice and independence in an environment that respects privacy, rights, and dignity.
